On the morning of November 20, 2016, while Brittney Cline was sleeping in her home in St. Petersburg, Russia, her beloved cat suddenly woke her up in the middle of the night. She woke up in a panic to find a shadow standing at the foot of her bed.
According to Cline, she said, “Hello,” before seeing the shadow bend down to the floor. She immediately grabbed her phone and turned on the flashlight to discover that the shadow was… petting her cat.
Cline recounted the incident to Fox 13.
“At that moment, even though I wasn’t threatened, I was really scared and yelled, ‘What are you doing in my house?’ He looked at me calmly and said, ‘Hey,’ before turning around and leaving through the front door,” Cline said.
Although her property was still intact, Cline decided to report it to the police. Within a few days, the police quickly identified and arrested Jasper Fiorenza, who was also Cline’s neighbor, on charges of theft.
Fiorenza broke into Cline’s house just to cuddle her beloved cat.
“Luckily, my house had a small door that blocked the baby. The thief touched this door to break into the house and unwittingly left fingerprints,” Cline said. She was also very grateful to her beloved cat, as it woke her up in time to discover that someone had broken into her house.
In 2014, Fiorenza was arrested for a similar offense, and his fingerprints have been stored in the police database since then. Thanks to this, law enforcement was able to easily identify Fiorenza in the illegal burglary. According to the police investigation, two weeks earlier, he had sneaked into Cline’s house once before, but her family had no idea.
Cline felt relieved when the thief was finally caught. After this incident, she had the entire security system in her home repaired and replaced the locks on all doors. After thinking it over, Cline herself did not believe that this thief was a kind-hearted person, breaking into someone’s house just to cuddle a cat and then getting caught by the police. This is perhaps one of the most interesting thefts she has ever heard of.
